Verizon Contract Extension Bargaining

As previously announced, CWA and IBEW began meeting with Verizon in mid-May for a limited period attempting to negotiate terms of a possible extension to the Collective Bargaining Agreements, which are set to expire August 5, 2023. The parties have agreed to extend negotiations an additional few days. We will provide additional updates as appropriate.

IBEW Local Union 21 and SEIU opened Unit 2 contract negotiations with the City of Chicago. We passed a series of Economic and Non-Economic proposals that reflect your sacrifices during the COVID-19 pandemic and your hard-work as Essential Public Safety Workers who are also dealing with soaring cost of living expenses. PSE PAY INCREASE UPDATE!!      Word was received late Friday night that the Postal Service has identified the issue that prevented the PSEs from receiving the additional 50 cents per hour pay on June 4, 2022. Unfortunately, they are going to have to do additional programming to complete to make sure they 50 cents is implemented.

A El Paso Police Department (EPPD) officer responding to a call of a ‘man walking with a sword’ in Northeast El Paso, t-boned a second car, sending both drivers to the hospital. EPPD officials say the crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, at the intersection of Transmountain and Rushing.

IBEW SCT-3 - AT&T Contract Extended-Bargaining Update #2 Friday, June 24, 2022 - 3:00pm (CDT) - The IBEW SCT-3 Council and AT&T have agreed to extend their current collective bargaining agreement while talks to reach a new contract continue. The agreement extends the current collective bargaining agreement through 11:59 PM on July 6, 2022. All IBEW members need to be ready to act. All Union Stewards should make sure to build their contact lists so information can be spread quickly to those in their work groups.

Pay Implementation Issue

I have received multiple reports from the field that there was at least one issue with the pay implementation that was to occur on June 4, 2022 and reflected in pay checks dated June 24, 2022.  It is being reported that the extra 50 cents an hour for PSEs was not included in the updated rate.  I have contacted the Postal Service on the issue.
